This first lot is one of about 40 lots of transferware porcelain pieces, mostly pink and blue lustre, that were imported by St. John's merchants such as Knowlings, M.J. Summers and others just pre and post c. 1900. These were all commemorative pieces illustrating various scenes and structures. This is the first time such a collection has been offered for sale in Newfoundland and all pieces are considered very rare today . This first lot is just the one piece showing the General Post Office, and the second photo shows the remainder of the collection being offered in the lots to follow this individual piece.
