Hand carved Virginite Inukshuk from Baie Verte Peninsula by artist/sculptor Nathaniel Noel. The unusual green colour is due to the presence of the mineral Fuchsite, a chrome bearing green mica. 

Inukshuk (Inuksuk), an Inuit word, means “Likeness of a man”.  These stone markers were built by Inuit travelers to guide them across the treeless tundra of the Canadian Arctic.  Giving very specific directions designated by the longer (pointing) arm they showed the traveler “the best way to go”.
