Robert Lodge

Robert was born on September 21, 1959 in Cowansville, in the heart of the Eastern Townships of Quebec. As a small child he always enjoyed drawing and excelled at art in High School.  At 17 he started a CEGEP diploma in Creative-Arts at Champlain Regional College in Lennoxville, Quebec in 1977. Then in the fall 0f 1979 Robert began a Bachelor of Fine-Arts degree at Mount Allison University in Sackville New Brunswick, majoring in print-making and a double minor in photography and Art History.  Upon completion of my Bachelor’s degree in 1983, he then began a Post-Graduate Diploma in Art Education at McGill University in Montreal which was completed in 1984.  In the late summer of 1984 Robert moved to Grand Falls to begin a career as an Art and Drama Teacher at Booth Memorial. He worked with the Provincial Government of Newfoundland for 30 years, from 1988 to 93 as a Museum Technician at the Mary March Regional Museum and from 1993 to 2017 as the Regional Manager of the Arts and Culture Centre in GFW.

Robert enjoys working with various media buts prefer to use pastels, water colours and working in various printmaking methods at any opportunity. Subject matter can vary and depends strictly upon his interest at any given the time.  As of late he has done a number of portraits in both pastel and water colours of family, friends and famous individuals. He is enjoying his free time creating artworks as he is retired and has time to commit to new projects.
