Contains:

  • 2 entries to the Vancouver Art Gallery ($29/each + tax)
  • An Exhibition Catalogue ($45 + tax)

Exhibition Catalogue Included: A Cultivating Journey - examines the collection of significant European historical and modern art donated to the McMaster Museum of Art by Herman Levy in 1984, and includes works by Courbet, Derain, Monet, Pissarro and Van Gogh. Today the production of such a project raises the critical question: how does the museum collect in the twenty-first century? This would have been a much easier consideration when the Levy donation entered the museum's collection. Up until that time, art history and the museum were Western inventions that served a particular period (circa 1860-1980) without contestation. The situation has since changed, forcing a reconsideration of the making, collecting, and presenting of art in a diverse and global world through a decidedly ideological institution. This thoroughly illustrated publication serves as both exhibition catalogue as well as an analysis of the task at hand. In essays and extended didactic statements on individual works, experts in their fields document the conundrum while speaking to/in the present museological moment. Discussions include the act of collecting; the transfer of personal to public; the enduring yet changing cultural significance of works of art - formally and socio-politically; the changing nature of collections; and the role of the museum in naming, classifying, interpreting, and maintaining works of cultural heritage.

Support Team Broken Earth Vancouver’s Mission to Antigua, Guatemala!

This November, a team of 48 dedicated volunteers from Team Broken Earth Vancouver will travel to Antigua, Guatemala to provide life-changing surgical care. Over the course of the mission, our team will perform more than 100 surgeries, helping mostly rural Indigenous patients who would otherwise have no access or ability to afford this level of medical treatment.

Your support through our silent auction helps make this mission possible. Funds raised will go directly toward purchasing essential equipment, surgical supplies, and medications - all of which we will either ship or bring down to Antigua for our patients.

Together, we can make a real difference.
Thank you for helping us bring healing, hope, and compassion to those in need.

Every bid counts. Thank you for your generous support!

Team Broken Earth (TBE) is a volunteer-driven registered medical charity (Charitable Registration #: 81660 1900 RR0001), made up of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals from across Canada. The first team started in Newfoundland, Canada in response to the dire need for medical assistance in the wake of the 2010 earthquake that levelled Port-au-Prince, Haiti, killing over a quarter of a million people and injuring countless more.

More than fourteen years removed from that devastating earthquake, the team has grown to be a nation-wide effort including not only medical missions but also educational and training missions as well as resources for infrastructure, supplies and equipment in areas where it’s needed most.

Our goal is to continue to build capacity and partnerships in the areas we serve until we are no longer needed. We continue to evolve, expand our reach, and leave an impact on our world.

Thank you for supporting Team Broken Earth Vancouver!
