Robert Mellin RCA

Robert Mellin is Past-president of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. He was an Associate Professor at the School of Architecture, McGill University, from 1999 to 2018. He has won ten Southcott Awards and a Manning Award for his heritage conservation projects in Newfoundland and Labrador. He received the Paul E. Buchanan Award for excellence in fieldwork and interpretation from the Vernacular Architecture Forum (VAF) for his many years of research and volunteer work in the community of Tilting on Fogo Island. In 2015 and 2017 he received Lt. Governor's awards for his architectural design work in Newfoundland, and in 2016 a "Built Heritage Award" award from the City of St. John's. He is Past-Chair of the Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador. In 2017 he received the Order of Canada for his heritage conservation work and research in Newfoundland and Labrador, and in 2015 he received an honorary doctorate (D. Litt.) from Memorial University. He was named to the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2018.
