Dried salt cod have been produced for over 500 years in Newfoundland and Labrador. it was once a major export of the North Atlantic region and now an ingredient of many fine cuisines. Codfish is split, salted, and dried outdoors on wooden frames called flakes.
This sculpture is handmade with counter top cement reinforced with glass fibre and steel mesh. It is hand painted with latex paint and tied with jute twine. To enjoy your salt fish hang it by the tail in the kitchen, coffee shop, shed, cabin, and rec room - anywhere indoors.

We are excited to announce an upcoming fundraising auction in partnership with the Tuckamore Festival. All proceeds support the festival’s Young Artist Program for emerging young musicians and composers.
