An outstanding custom quilt measuring 6.6 ft by 8 ft.

A panel on the back of this quilt tells the story of how this quilt came about, see below:

“God bless your cotton socks” beautiful Trinity for welcoming a group of quilting ladies (and three men) from all over Canada (and two from the United States) that were travelling through Newfoundland with Quilt Tours International (Q.T.I.) in June 2023.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time as we strolled, and we appreciated the beauty, the uniqueness, and the hospitality of your lovely village. We bought beautifully knitted items, enjoyed delicious chocolate, marvelled at the sea urchin shells, drank in the scenery, and appreciated the history and heritage of your very special corner of the world.

Two of our quilters, Mary Ellen Murphy, and Judi Bouman, had a chance meeting with Chris O’Dea on June 9, 2023, as he was working on the restoration of Forge on Dandy in Trinity. Chris introduced them to the Trinity Historical Society (THS).  A society with a mission to preserve, present, and promote the heritage of their wonderful community of Trinity and surrounding area.  Mary Ellen, Judi, and Chris discussed the society and the fundraising options and auction events. An idea was born!

Mary Ellen and Judi returned to the tour bus, picked up the microphone, and asked if any of our quilters would be interested in contributing a square for a quilt that would be auctioned off in November by THS. Proceeds would support Trinity. The response was fast, furious, and enthusiastic. The decided quilt theme was a house/structure that you saw during your travels through Newfoundland.

So, Trinity…. these “Come From Aways” are pleased to donate “Our Memories of NFLD” quilt in support and recognition of your beautiful village and in appreciation for the Trinity hospitality that we enjoyed in June 2023.

Viewers may recognize the historic Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Trinity, The Green Family Forge and a few blocks influenced by other Trinity architecture.
