As a result of our choir receiving a Gold Standard at our local music festival, we are honoured to receive an invitation to participate in MusicFest Canada 2024 in Toronto, ON. MusicFest Canada provides an opportunity for students and educators from across Canada to meet, demonstrate, and share their musical achievements and creativity. This is an exciting opportunity for our students to showcase their skills, to perform for Canadian musical experts, and reflect on musical achievements and creativity in an educationally focused way.

The Beaconsfield Junior High Choir is a non-auditioned ensemble of 61 people, welcoming students regardless of previous experience. Our school boasts a diverse student population of just under 500 students from Grades 7-9, representing various nationalities, cultural backgrounds and socio-economic circumstances.

Music, as a language we all understand, creates a shared space for our students to grow, collaborate, and celebrate their unique identities. It is a place where every student, regardless of their background, culture, identity, or financial means finds a welcoming and inclusive community. Among our members, we are fortunate to have Ukrainian students who have found solace and joy in the choir. I am proud to share that more than 10% of our membership identify as part of the LGBTQ2+ community. Another 15% of our members face financial constraints that may hinder their ability to participate in this remarkable opportunity without your support. Choir provides a platform for our students to express themselves through the language of music as a shared experience.

Participating in MusicFest Canada will not only enhance our students' musical skills but will also contribute significantly to their personal growth, collaboration, and cultural enrichment. Your contribution will help us reach our financial goals and will also play a crucial role in empowering our students. We firmly believe that by supporting our choir you are not just contributing to an event but investing in a community that celebrates diversity, inclusion, and the transformative power of music that will provide a life-long positive impact on our students.
