1970s RARE Vintage Russian Stockinette Babushka Gossip Tea Cosy

This vintage Russian Babushka tea cosy doll, I'll call "Gossip Girl," adds a touch of charm and warmth to any tea setting. Made from cloth, she features a quilted body, cloth face and hands, and painted features with a pursed mouth designed to blow steam off the tea.

Height: 18 inches
Skirt Depth: Approximately 9 inches deep to cover a teapot

Condition: Needs cleaning; shows significant discoloration and staining on both the inside and outside of the dress. She also has trouble standing up and tends to bend back. See photos for details.

Many of these tea cozies came to North America after the 1980 Olympics held in Moscow. This doll was designed to sit on a samovar, a traditional metal container used to heat and boil water in Russia, or a huge teapot that sits on the stove all day here on the rock.

While she has excellent character and charm, she is in fair condition due to dirt and staining. She will need a day at the spa.

Sold as-is.
