Artist CV from the government of Prince Edward Island collection website, likely from the mid 1980s:

Neil Chodorow was born November 4, 1946. He was raised in Rosalyn, New York, a suburb of New York City. During his childhood he took art lessons at the Art Students' League and Cooper Union School of Art in New York City. In 1964 he graduated from high school and entered Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, from which he graduated in 1968 with a B.A. in Chinese Studies.

Due to the military draft he was unable to pursue graduate studies in Chinese Studies, so Neil became a junior high school teacher in African and Afro-American Studies at D.S. 201 in Harlem, NY. At the same time he enrolled in New York University, and in 1970 received a Masters Degree in Secondary Education. His teaching experience led him to decide to become a pediatrician, to better serve the children he was teaching.

After taking pre-medical science courses at Columbia University and at City College in New York, Neil entered New York University Medical School in 1970. During his second year he began to paint again after a seven-year hiatus. Begun as a hobby, he soon found it difficult to tear himself away from painting. In 1972 he moved to Prince Edward Island to try painting full time.

In 1973 Neil became a landed immigrant to Canada.

In 1976 his work was in large and small-group exhibits in the Maritimes and in touring shows across Canada, Paris, France and Visby, Sweden. One-person shows in 1978 and 1981 at the Great George Street Gallery, Charlottetown, PEI. In 1983 shows included an exhibit at Manuge Galleries in Nova Scotia, and a touring (three-person show) exhibit visiting five Atlantic Canadian museum-galleries.

Articles of his work appeared in Arts Atlantic Winter/Spring 1978, Atlantic Insight, September 1980, Vanguard March 1982, and Arts Atlantic Winter/Spring 1984.

Neil Chodorow's work is included in the collections of the Confederation Centre Art Gallery and Museum, Standard Life Insurance Company of Canada, ESSO Canada, the Canadian Council of the Arts, Memorial University of Newfoundland and the Art Bank of Prince Edward Island, as well as numerous private collections in Canada and the United States.
