Session #2 - HISTORICA - Time Machine #2 - The Incredible World of Neil Connors - April 2-15th, 2025

Neil Connors was a devoted Newfoundlander, born in 1958 in Grand Falls (now Grand Falls-Windsor). His love for the history and heritage of Newfoundland and Labrador was deeply rooted, instilled by his grandfather, a stamp collector with a worldwide clientele. Through his grandfather, Neil gained not only an understanding of the trade but a profound appreciation for Newfoundland and Labrador’s rich history, especially its unique role on the global stage.

Driven by a desire to preserve this heritage, Neil became an ardent collector, focusing on items from Newfoundland’s pre-Confederation era. His dedication led him to build a vast network of contacts locally and internationally, all of whom aided in expanding his remarkable collection. Neil believed in safeguarding the stories of Newfoundland’s people and artifacts—those of governors, veterans, explorers, and more—and ensuring these narratives were kept alive for future generations. His collection spans connections to everything Newfoundland, from historic ships and trains to significant figures who shaped the province.

Neil also had a vision for presenting these items with dignity and care, and many of his prized pieces were professionally framed with museum-grade, archival materials. As a testament to Newfoundland's history, he ensured they were displayed proudly, rather than hidden away.

Following his recent passing after a brief illness, Neil’s final wish was for his collection to be shared with others who appreciate Newfoundland’s legacy. Now, each item awaits a new steward to carry forward his legacy of preservation and pride.
