This has been the family home for Shane and Maire O’Dea for over 5 decades and their downsizing dictates that the remaining contents will be sold.
Contents include: Sheraton, Regency and Chippendale furniture; collection of 40 rare pink lustre pieces
c. 1900 illustrating local structures and scenes; antiquarian books; antiquarian folk art pieces; sterling silver; antiquarian NL maps from the 1600-1700’s; Grenfell mat, Grenfell dolls; Nfld hooked mats; Historic art and prints incl 1881 oil painting of St. John’s by J.L. Bidding for this auction/sale is online only, however, WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU ATTEND IN-PERSON VIEWING at Retreat Cottage at 14 Kennas Hill. There is a public parking lot just up the hill and across the street from the condo building. SEE PHOTO HERE. In addition Gittens Law has kindly agreed to weekend parking (Sat and Sun) in the lot behind their building at 8 Kennas Hill. Please exercise care when walking from parking across the street and from 8 Kennas Hill.
This auction features a staggered, soft close - beginning at 7 PM Thursday April 10, 2025 , one lot will close every 20 seconds until complete. If a bid is received in the final 45 seconds, the countdown clock resets to 45 seconds for that lot only.
Buyer’s Fee – a 15% Buyer’s Fee will be applied to the purchaser’s total before HST. Harmonized Sales Tax applies to all items offered and all services rendered.
Pay by cash, etransfer, Wire, Certified Cheque, Visa, MasterCard, American Express. (If you choose the credit card payment option there is a 2.4% premium added to the purchase to cover credit card fees.) The auctioneer will retain possession of all items until full payment has been received and cleared.

Items with proof of payment can be removed on Wednesday April 30 between 2 PM and 5 PM and Thursday May 1 between 9:00 AM and 4 PM . It is suggested for those moving that they should park in the public lot across the street while organizing items to be remove. This is necessary to avoid driveway congestion. Patrons should avoid backing out of the driveway after loading contents and only turn right upon exit
**All Items must be paid for within 24 hours following the sale.
