Alan C. Collier "Morning Shadows (barry's bay)"
Alan Caswell Collier (1911 - 1990) lived in Ontario, but traveled throughout Canada on a life-long journey to paint as many provincial scenes as possible. He also worked as a miner, and this experience was the inspiration for a series of paintings depicting the underground work environment. Collier worked in oils, watercolours, pyroxilin and acrylic polymer emulsion. As a young painter, he studied under J.E.H. MacDonald and Franklin Carmichael at the Ontario College of Art, and returned there to teach from 1955 - 1967. His paintings are being sought for consignment in future sales.

All works in this auction have been donated through our Thrift Stores. Revenue from our two Stores provides the bulk of our funding. All money generated by this auction will be part of the operations budget for the SPCA St. John’s Adoption and Resource Centre (ARC) on RCAF Road. Fundraising events such as this help ensure that all animals entrusted to our care are fed, receive the required veterinary care, and are adopted to their ‘furever’ homes.
